Education
SURGiC is involved in national and international ultrasound training. We offer pre- and postgraduate research training for medical- and technical professionals.
Our Summer Ultrasound Course
Each year, we organize Copenhagen International Head & Neck Ultrasound Course, which covers both head and neck ultrasound and ultrasound-guided interventions.
The course is relevant for both experienced practitioners looking to improve their ultrasound skills and for trainees interested in incorporating ultrasound in their clinical practice.
An international faculty will teach thyroid, parathyroid, and neck ultrasound. The lectures are combined with quizzes and hands-on training on volunteers or phantoms for ultrasound-guided interventions.
To date, we have trained more than 150 doctors from over 30 countries in the use of systematic ultrasound during this course.
When? June 19-20, 2025
Where? Maersk Tower, Panum, Copenhagen
Basic Ultrasound Course
We also offer an Introductory Course in Head and Neck Ultrasound, which includes both lectures in anatomy and head and neck ultrasound, as well as hands-on training.
The course is aimed at ENT surgeons who want to develop basic ultrasound skills or begin to perform ultrasound in their clinical practice. It is also relevant for other specialties thar perform head and neck ultrasounds, such as endocrinologists, pediatricians, radiologists, and more.
During the course, you will learn how to scan healthy volunteers and patients and expand your knowledge of ultrasound physics, ultrasound anatomy, and the systematic head and neck ultrasound scan.
When? November 28-29, 2024
Where? CAMES, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen
Ultrasound in global health
SURGiC has organized several ultrasound courses in collaboration with the African Head and Neck Society (AfHNS).
We have also funded ultrasound machines and travel grants for doctors from low-resource countries, enabling them to use ultrasound as an accessible, low-cost imaging tool.
EFSUMB
We are also involved with the European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB).
Our work includes participating in developing new guidelines for head and neck ultrasound as well as promoting the integration of ultrasound training in medical education.
