Meet the team

Our team consists of doctors, biomedical engineers, nurses, data scientists, and students. We also collaborate with other clinical departments, research institutions, and the MedTech industry.

Tobias Todsen
Group Leader
Tobias is a Head and Neck Surgeon, PhD at Rigshospitalet and Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

Fatemeh Makouei
Head of Techincal Research
Fatemeh is a Biomedical Engineer, PhD at Rigshospitalet and an Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen.

Martin Garset-Zamani
Medical Doctor, PhD
Martin is a Registrar in Otolaryngology conducting a PhD project on transoral ultrasound to improve the diagnostic workup of oropharyngeal cancer.

Kasper Daugaard Larsen
Medical Doctor, Senior ENT Resident & PhD Fellow
Kasper is a senior resident in ENT–Head & Neck Surgery conducting a PhD project that aims to refine the pre-operative assessment of thyroid nodules. By combining new fine-needle biopsy techniques, high-throughput proteomic profiling, whole genome sequencing and 3D ultrasound imaging, his research seeks to distinguish benign follicular adenomas from malignant carcinomas and thereby spare patients unnecessary thyroid surgery.

Nina Buhl Sannino-Greve
Medical Doctor, PhD Student
Nina is conducting randomized controlled trials of surgeon-performed transoral and transcervical ultrasound in the diagnostic work-up of oropharyngeal cancer and a prospective study of ex vivo 3D ultrasound for surgical margins in oropharyngeal cancer.

Amalie Hartvig Pall
Medical Doctor, PhD Student
Amalie is investigating novel ultrasound techniques to improve diagnostic workup in the outpatient clinic. These include cervical and transoral ultrasound of the oropharynx in patients suspected of oropharynx cancer and patients with a suspected peritonsillar abscess.

Daniel Lauritzen
Medical Doctor, PhD Student
Daniel is conducting a randomized controlled trial on the use of intraoperative 3D ultrasound to improve the surgical treatment of patients with oral cancer.

Sofie Danielsen
Project nurse
Sofie is our project nurse with 10 years experience as an operating room nurse. She will mainly be helping Daniel and Nina with data collection in their PhD projects.

Jacob Nielsen
Medical Doctor
Jacob is a Medical Doctor working on a research project exploring innovative approaches to diagnosing upper airway infections more effectively, leveraging AI and smartphone technology.

Tina Klitmøller Agander
Senior Consultant Pathologist, PhD
Tina is Head of Head & Neck Pathology at Rigshospitalet and provides pathology expertise across the SURGIC team's many different projects.

Maria Stangalini
Research Assistant
Maria is pursuing her Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at DTU and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. Her academic background focuses on biomedical signal processing and data analysis. She is involved in the technical and clinical research within the team.

Zakir Hussain Shahoo
Research Assistant
Zakir is a Research Assistant with a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Technology. He is involved in various research and development projects within the team.

Rikke Harmsen
Research nurse
Rikke is a Research nurse with a MSc in Health Science. She is in charge of project coordination and helping with academic work such as grant applications.

Villads Aagaard Brixen
Medical student
Villads is a medical student doing research for his master's degree. He is conducting a retrospective study investigating how surgeon performed ultrasound and rapid pathology might improve the diagnostic workup of time of head and neck cancer.

Ahmed Ehsan Al-Khafaf
Medical doctor
Ahmed is investigating the use of advanced X-ray imaging techniques to generate 3D images of tongue tumors. His study explores the application of phase contrast micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) and synchrotron X-ray to visualize tumor morphology and invasion patterns.

Amanda Baunsgaard Nielsen
Medical student
Amanda is a medical student currently completing a research year. The main research focus is on the use of AI in 2D and 3D ultrasound for lymph node diagnostics.

Emma, Oliver, Sophie and Lukas
Master's students, DTU
Emma, Oliver, Sophie and Lukas are studying design and innovation at DTU and are working on their master’s thesis. The project aim to improve the efficiency of the care pathway for patients undergoing thyroid surgery, with a patient-oriented focus. Their thesis is based on an technical invention Tobias has been working on.

Tille Egholm & Lin Sørensen
Intern, BEng in Healthcare Technology
Tille and Lin are interns at our spinoff company 3Sonic until August 2026 where they they assist with the development and maintenance of 3sonic’s software solutions. Furthermore, they will support SURGiC clinicians in research activities.
